Importance of calibration or loop check

Vibration Sensors play a crucial role in protecting and monitoring a plant machinery or a structure. These measurements help in controlling the process control systems and make adjustments in a process environment.

Over time, these sensors tend to age and their response naturally changes too.

Most manufacturers recommend annual accelerometer calibration, but how a sensor is used and specific test requirements often dictate proper calibration interval. Exceeding the accelerometer’s high or low temperature specifications, or if it is dropped, would be cause for recalibration.

Perform a calibration

Sensor is placed on a calibrated shaker or calibrator  and exposed to a precisely defined excitation , frequency and the measurements are recorded.
In order to take precise and commensurable measurements, the sensor can be calibrated in regular intervals by an accredited calibration laboratory or can be performed by the end-users using a traced calibration system.
